JOB SUMMARY
An AV Field Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced audiovisual solutions in commercial, corporate, and institutional environments. This role combines deep technical expertise with on-site leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, meeting client expectations, and adhering to industry and IVCi standards.
The Field Engineer will support the Project Supervisor and AV Technicians and serve as a key liaison among clients, project managers, and engineering teams.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, program, and commission complex AV systems, including video conferencing, control systems, digital signage, 1beyond conference system, and integrated multimedia solutions.
Project execution, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to design specifications
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AV hardware, software, and networking components
Perform all software/firmware configuration uploads and checks to ensure the system performs the manufacturer’s specifications
Configure and integrate systems such as control processors, DSPs, and AV-over-IP solutions
Advanced knowledge of video conference platforms such as Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Poly
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams
Provide client training and post-installation support
Collaborate with project managers, system engineers, and vendors to ensure seamless delivery of the AV system
Mentor and guide AV Field Technicians and Project Supervisors
Coordinate and oversee multiple teams of both IVCi and subcontracted technicians to ensure installation quality meets AV industry standards and IVCi company standards.
Maintain accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including end-of-day reports, precise timekeeping, as-built drawings, timely task closures, and complete project records.
Review red line updates on system drawings for any changes that took place during the fabrication, installation, and IVCI quality control
Perform any other duties or tasks reasonably required to support project success.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Extensive experience with professional AV systems and field installation
Strong knowledge of control systems (e.g., Crestron), Crestron NVX, 1beyond, Digital Media systems, Extron video switchers,
DSP platforms, Such as Biamp, QSC Q-sys Core, Extron DSP, Symetrix DSP, and basic knowledge of audio sound board configuration
Ability to troubleshoot complex system integrations under pressure
Familiarity with AV standards, cabling practices, and rack building
Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation
Relevant certifications (e.g., CTS-I, CTS-D) preferred
Advance networking
Understanding the OSI Networking Model (7 Layers)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CTS and / or CTS-I/D certification
DMC_E, NVX Certification
Any formal training from Biamp, QSC, Clear One, Polycom, Cisco, Crestron, Shure, Dante
Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom Telepresence installation experience / certification
SynAudCon Training
5 years or more of related industry experience
