The International Coaching Federation (ICF) Credentials and Standards invites applications for a Public Member, or Consumer Representative, to serve on its Global Board of Directors.
ICF Credentials and Standards exist to elevate professional standards in coaching by recognizing the competence of coaches across their professional journey and providing quality assurance to coaching clients, sponsors/buyers of coaching, and the public.
About the ICF Credentials and Standards Global Board
The ICF Credentials and Standards Global Board of Directors oversees and manages the International Coaching Federation’s professional certification programs for individual coach practitioners. Representing more than 60,000 active credentials in 157 countries and territories worldwide, this diverse board promotes ethical conduct and professional excellence in the global coaching industry.
The ICF Credentials and Standards Board's role includes setting and supervising the organization's overarching goals, mission, strategies, and financial planning.
Requirements
Role of the Public Member
ICF Credentials and Standards is accepting applications for the 2027 Board of Directors, including directors who would serve as a Public Member to represent the voice of coaching buyers or clients and bring an external perspective to Board deliberations.
The Public Member will:
- Serve a two (2)-year term as a volunteer leader
- Participate in one in-person Board meeting annually and additional virtual meetings as scheduled. International travel is required
- Meet all National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) requirements for public members, including independence from the coaching profession
Experience and Qualifications
Ideal candidates will bring a combination of the following:
- Business acumen and strategic mindset
- Experience with governance, policy-setting, and organizational oversight
- Strong analytical and systems thinking skills
- Ability to contribute to high-level discussions on performance standards and strategy
- Experience as an individual client of coaching or a buyer of coaching services for an organization
- Leadership experience in complex or global organizations
- Cultural awareness and a global perspective
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to ethical governance and accountability
- Experience serving on nonprofit or volunteer boards
- Familiarity with certification, accreditation, or compliance environments (e.g., ISO, NCCA)
- Understanding of performance management and quality assurance practices
- Openness to diverse perspectives and policy approaches
